READ: The Campaign to Discredit C.Affleck Failed-He'll Now Win the Oscar

Interesting piece by Jeffrey Wells, who writes a summary of how the orchestrated

campaign - probably by a rival studio - to discredit Casey Affleck failed.

He should not winthe Oscar on the premise he isn't nearly as good as any of the other nominees. His character had no character.

Actors vote in Academy acting categories. And they are celeb themselves, so they come with the knowledge that being a celeb they are constantly the centre of public's scrutiny, and even a false claim can be largely damaging. So it's more likely he'll win than not. But forget the person, let the performance speak. It's a worthy performance. SAG is the best Academy predictor, so if he wins SAGs then he's 100% the winner, if not then the others still have the chance to snub him.

Constance Wu Criticizes Casey Affleck's Oscar Nomination:

Very funny, especially some comments…

She makes a fool out of herself.

Did she even read those crappy complaints?

Now that he's lost the SAG, still any chance at all for the Oscar? Seems that this negative sentiment in particular led by Constance Wu had done more damage than thought.

Anything his team can do now?

How important are the SAG awards really? Because Denzel never won and he already have two Oscars. Casey won the GG, the Critic's choice Awards and a lot of more for MBTS and maybe he will win the BAFTA. So maybe there's still a chance that he wins the Oscar.

The SAG is the best indicator of who will win the Oscar. The Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards are not.
