Romance & Cigarettes is considered a musical. I see where you're coming from, though, and yes, she would be great in a higher calibre musical. She has a beautiful singing voice.

The world NEEDS Kate in a hugh-calibre musical, YES.

I thought she would have been perfect to play little Edie in Grey Gardens, and was unhappy that Drew Barrymore was chosen.
