The Dark Tower?

Can anyone else see Michael as Roland from Stephen King's Dark Tower series? I actually surprised he hasn't been invloved in more western roles with that voice of his.

I'm all for anytime Michael would wear cowboy gear and ride a horse. YUm yUM!
I totally agree that it is a genre for which he's well-suited. If film makers would just produce more quality westerns and use their brains, Michael could be the next big ADULT western star, in my opinion. I've often dreamed of a GOOD remake or re-inspired "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" with Michael in Bogie's Dobbs role. *sigh* What he could do with that material could be excellent!

Are there actually plans to make the Dark Tower series into film?

Yeah. Ron Howard is directing it. Going to make the seven books into a trilogy and an NBC tv series.

See, I got you to answer your question and address why Michael will not be in the series... one word, television... I don't think he likes TV at all. It frustrates me to no end. There is some good stuff happening on cable TV lately and I can see him doing well with it, but we can only wish for him. He has to live with his choices.

I think, he can be a good Roland. If silvering his long hairs + bright blue eyes lens. And teach him for fast shooting and reloading with heavy revolvers.

I said more even. I thought half-hour ago -- who can play Roland in a new project? And counting some actors in my mind, from Day-Lewis to Bale... And remembered Wincott (i saw hin in "...Spider"). Look at his page on imdb, and here is a topic about "The Dark Tower?" already.

I never saw Wincott as a Roland, to be honest. But there are some other roles he would, imho, be perfect for. Strangely they are quite dissimilar roles, but here goes;

Jack Mort
Randall Flagg
Cortland "Cort" Andrus
&
Eldred Jonas

And, in tone with Wincott's earlier work, he could play a character who is killed off. Preferably at the end of the third picture.
This would even solve the problem of him not getting into the project because of his dislike for television. ;)

I see Michael as the Man in Black. I think he's perfect for it. And since the first book will be a movie, I think he'd got for it.
