Westworld

According to http://www.michaelwincott.org/work he will be part of HBO's upcoming show.
I'd like to know if he has a recurring role or not.

Yes, Michael will appear in the show at some point. Most likely a cameo, but as we all know, he can make those memorable. He told me himself to add the credit to his website. I was super excited about this show from its announcement since I have always been a fan of the old film. Now, of course, there is added enthusiasm.

Let's all continue to pray for a meaty role in a really cool show for Michael to co-star. Something fun and challenging for him. Okay?

Yes, a short but VERY memorable appearance. That voice was unmistakable. It's been haunting me since The Crow. I knew it had to be him but didn't see him in the official credits so had to come looking.

That rug really tied the room together.

he's an older model synth

Fück I knew it was him! That voice is unmistakeable. I hope he gets more screen time. This guy is so underrated.

reply

My husband knew who he was immediately.

Another brilliant bit of acting. I couldn't place him but as others say the voice.  I looked up who it was and replayed that scene. I loved his robot movements showing he was an older model.
Also as I was rewatching it I loved
the fact he had a scene with Jeffery Wright though they didn't have any interaction, I just smiled thinking of them in Basquiat. Both are the most deserving and never recognized best actors out there.

He plays a 1st generation robot, Old Bill, at the moment. I believe Old Bill is based on a real person, believed to be dead and I think we will find out that is not the case and get to meet that person soon. My reason? MW stands out and is too young to be wasted in a bit part as an old (in make up), repetitive robot only.

reply

First: while I share your sentiments, I submit to you that Wincott never allows himself to be wasted. He always makes himself matter.

Second: there ARE no bit parts in Westworld. The show has too much scope and too much prestige. A part that is prima facie trivial later reveals itself to be indispensable.
