Terrible in True Detective
He was awful in the first episode of True Detective. He's not capable of being believable in that role. Go back to being funny, Vince. You're a terrible dramatic actor. Ugh.

shareIt's difficult to watch.
shareI thought he did really good in the latest episode, his monologue about being stuck in that basement was delivered quite well.
shareIf you enjoyed it, that's cool, but I respectfully disagree. It looked to me like he was reading the lines off cue cards taped to the ceiling. It looks to me like he doesn't have the range to play that part. I'm starting to get embarrassed for him.
shareI don't think he's terrible so far. But he hasn't been good either. They aren't letting him do his Schtick. I don't understand most gangster characters have comedic elements to them, look at Pesci in Goodfellas or Bobby Cannavalle in Boardwalk Empire. Those characters were frightening but also very funny. Vince Vaughn is funny, he's not f!cking George Carlin, but he can hold his own comedically as an actor. Maybe the next 6 episodes he' shows more of himself. But so far it looks like a toned down mess.
Just curious how do you like the show other than his performance? I like it so far. But it's not nearly as smart as season 1. Still entertaining though.
The second episode definitely caught my interest. It's been pretty good. Most of it has been setup so far, so it's tough to judge whether or not the story is going ultimately compare to the first season just yet. Honestly, I think Will Ferrell would have been a great casting choice for the role Vaughn is playing. maybe Vaughn will turn it around, though. We'll see.
