Accent?
She seems to speak with a slight German or Dutch accent. The IMDbbio doesn't mention being raised outside the US. Anyone know where it comes from ?

LOL, what accent? Oh, and btw, there is NO phoney (not phony) coming from Kathleen.
Jack's not dead! Jack would never die without telling me, first!
It's not REALLY phoney she lowers her register due to her acting teacher in college telling her to. So although it's not her natural speaking voice it is hers.
This question is exactly why I came to her page. If it is a phony accent, she really screwed up a few of her roles when she slipped into this accent that her character should not have had (i.e. Peggy Sue Got Married).

No, she has lived in Canada, Venezuela, Missouri, Cuba and England for different amounts of time while growing up, hense the slight mix of accents she seems to have.
It sounds as though she has a slight spanish sound as well as european added to american. I thought she sounded really sexy and exotic when she was young.

Yeah... or that she actually takes acting seriously and knows she must have a strong accent for both acting on stage and being a teacher, which she is.
Yes she does want to sound glorious and sophisticated, why not? She has made a career playing femme fatals and strong and tempestuous women why not have a powerful persona? It is all part of who she is as an actress, very dramatic.
