I notice Marisa hardly ever gets leading lady roles. She is an excellent actress and the Academy clearly loves her.

That would be called a main character, or lead actress, not a leading lady.

Leading lady is a term that specifically means an actress that plays a secondary lead, or supporting role. (usually romantic interest)
