So... What is this 'long illness' they speak of?

They say he died of this so-called long illness but never tell us what that illness is... Talk about a cliffhanger.

During his childhood, he endured numerous health challenges, including hepatitis, rheumatic fever, and polio. Consequently, one of his legs was shorter than the other.
