Space ride motivated Bill to say we have to fix global warming - NOW!

Hear why William Shatner is ‘overwhelmed by sadness’ after space flight

He echoes the sentiments of Greta Thunberg, but quoting Picard .... "make it so"!

reply

Good thing he and his ilk weren't around during the ice age. We'd still be shivering in caves avoiding hungry Woolly Mamoths. I rather enjoy green grass, tall trees, visiting the beach on warm days, and foliage in the fall.

reply

Oh god, are you that stupid?

Woolly mammoths weren't carnivores. And if colder climates become tolerable, then what about the already warm climates? They'll be uninhabitable!

reply

there used to be a salt lake in salt lake city. bazinga!

reply

Woolly mammoths weren't carnivores.

I didn't say they were. But they ate a lot in a time with a limited food supply available to any creature, and if they're anything like modern elephants, would be very territorial.

And if colder climates become tolerable, then what about the already warm climates? They'll be uninhabitable!

Not really sure what you're getting at (I guess I really am that stupid). You're saying that the temperate climates that existed during the ice ages would be uninhabitable?

In any case, my point is that if the man-made climate change hoaxers were around during the ice age, they'd be pointing to the warming Earth as evidence of human involvement in what is a natural climate change.

reply

I'm not talking about the fucking ice age, I'm talking about NOW! It's your fault for not making that clear.

reply

I mentioned both the ice age and Woolly Mammoths.

reply

"Good thing he and his ilk weren't around during the ice age. We'd still be shivering in caves avoiding hungry Woolly Mamoths."

&

"I rather enjoy green grass, tall trees, visiting the beach on warm days, and foliage in the fall."

Sounds like two completely different time periods to me, the ice age and the present.

reply

You quoted me but did you actually read the quote? I said it's a good thing he (Shatner) and his kind weren't around during the ice-age - they would work to prevent the global warming which ended the ice age.

Or would you prefer a glacier covered planet?

Not me: "I rather enjoy green grass, tall trees, visiting the beach on warm days, and foliage in the fall."

reply

Humanity won't experience another ice age for CENTURIES yet.

reply

On that we can agree..

reply

And I agree with him. Even though I frown on space tourism, if it convinces more and more people with their own eyes that our planet is fragile and needs to be protected, then I'm all for it.

reply

Well, he was almost cosmically forced to come up with something .... shall we say "weighty" about what he experienced to the Star Trek public who were probably expecting something of this nature. It seemed fair and fitting.

I wonder if it was so profound for Mr. Shatner because he was only half-expecting to survive the trip and being 90 he is counting every day as an amazing gift?

reply

Climate Change worshippers are like a cult like Jehovah's witnesses...Man made Climate change is a hoax and if it isn't we can not do SHIT to stop it

reply

Since I have you here and attentive ... I wonder if you can tell me what makes a total nobody, with no credentials, and obvious sickness in their soul and hate in their heart post something like this? What kind of mental illness causes you to do this, and how do you suppose your got it? Were your parents even worse idiots? Did you maybe sniff too much glue? Did you grow up totally deprived of intellectual stimulation and education in a criminal society?

reply

You watched Silence of the Lambs and SE7EN too much...You f€@& lobotomised NPC

I got some bad news for you -
What would happen to the climate if we were to stop emitting carbon dioxide today, right now? Would we return to the climate of our elders?

The simple answer is no. Once we release the carbon dioxide stored in the fossil fuels we burn, it accumulates in and moves among the atmosphere, the oceans, the land and the plants and animals of the biosphere. The released carbon dioxide will remain in the atmosphere for thousands of years. Only after many millennia will it return to rocks, for example, through the formation of calcium carbonate – limestone – as marine organisms’ shells settle to the bottom of the ocean.

reply

Carbon dioxide has a half life of about 120 years, methane 10.5 years, nitrous oxide 132 years, and the CFCs 16 to more than 500 years

That is an argument for starting ASAP, not bumbling around like you are pretending you are so smart and saying nothing is worth it. You can find a link that says anything you want it to, as the Republican trolls around here do 5 times a second.

reply

It would appear that you are wrong. No wonder you have no 'links' to prove your point. Every single green energy proponent says the same thing -
This is a debate - and in a debate you use facts. If I were on your debate team, I'd probably start calling for the constructions of millions of carbon dioxide converters - each the size of a building (there's 2 in existence now, i believe). But you are so dumb that you didn't even know that much.
-----------------

Even If We Stop Emitting CO2 Today, Carbon Dioxide Could Warm the Earth for Centuries
Second, carbon dioxide is a very long-lived gas, having a lifespan of hundreds of years, possibly up to a thousand. The chief culprit of human-induced global warming, past and current anthropogenic CO2 emissions will end up lurking, accumulating in the atmosphere for decades, even centuries, contributing to long-term global warming, before being reabsorbed by either natural carbon sinks or artificial means.

reply

You think we're debating? I am just pointing out you are a pompous idiot. I just took it as a given that there is too much CO2 in the atmosphere, and that something would be needed to take it out, planting trees, carbon sequestration - I'm not going to waste the time. Your apparent point is that it is hopeless so your just going to make snide asshole remarks until the sun burns you up or the sea floor your Mom's basement. You know, being an unpleasant asshole doesn't mean you're correct.

By the way, you better hope that CO2 warms the Earth for centuries because otherwise we would face an ice age. CO2 has a has a half life of about 120 years ... we don't have to wait until all of it goes away.

reply

lol

reply

The idiot's response to everything. FU.

reply

I take it as a given that you are well aware that you are an idiot, so I won't point it out. Have a nice day.

reply

Kind of an idiotic comment don't you think?

reply

Isn't it ironic...

reply

Idiot ic

reply

Well you've shown your ignorance. Climate chance/global warming is easily disproven. Watch Al Gores bullshit movie an inconvenient truth and start listing all the horrible things that were suppose to happen by now... now look at how many have failed to materialize. There you go a list of things that didn't happen all originally supported by the same ignorant cunts that currently claim climate change is about to kill mankind. Fuck them all to hell, there is no climate change because it is nothing more than a rebranding of global warming which clearly has failed to happen.

The reason the earth gets warmer or cooler is in the center of the solar system flinging out energy 24/7 year after year... Only if you look at the output of the sun it varies over time. It is the reason we experience warmer and cooler times, and in the future when the sun starts to expand and fries all life on earth to a crisp you can keep yammering about climate change but it won't matter what you fucking do the sun will heat the planet to a crisp. If you are too stupid to understand those facts then do the world a favor and go fuck yourself quietly in a corner while those with a brain carry on without your ignorant interruptions.

Chatner has been on the A list since the mid-60s. Eating high on the hog and living in luxury...flying private jets and riding in limos for 55 years. And now he has been given the privilege of going into the outer reaches because of his fortune and fame. Then points the finger at us mere mortals for the error of our ways. I hope you will find God someday, Bill. It will not be through a penis shaped rocket or a hollywood shaped soapbox.God Speed...

reply

Ya know they are all bullshitting.

The cleanest source of energy known to man is nuclear energy - these green energy morons are all opposing it.
That tells you everything you need to know about their motivations.

Bill is a tool - first when it comes to selling the shitty space 'tourism' tickets - and secondly, when it comes to selling 'green' energy. Alas, he's 90 - I don't blame him for not realizing that he's being used.

Here is another thing - we aren't gonna 'fix' global warming. Even if we all suddenly stop producing carbon dioxide, what's already in the air will stay unchanged for hundreds/thousands of years - google it.

"If all human emissions of heat-trapping gases were to stop today, Earth’s temperature would continue to rise for a few decades as ocean currents bring excess heat stored in the deep ocean back to the surface."

And here is another one - much less optimistic - lol

What would happen to the climate if we were to stop emitting carbon dioxide today, right now? Would we return to the climate of our elders?

The simple answer is no. Once we release the carbon dioxide stored in the fossil fuels we burn, it accumulates in and moves among the atmosphere, the oceans, the land and the plants and animals of the biosphere. The released carbon dioxide will remain in the atmosphere for thousands of years. Only after many millennia will it return to rocks, for example, through the formation of calcium carbonate – limestone – as marine organisms’ shells settle to the bottom of the ocean.
