Lance white character. Does anyone else remember Selleck's other P.I.?

Tom didn't just play Thomas Magnum, P.I.; He also played Lance White, P.I. I think it was a "goody two-shoes" detective, always trying to do the right thing.I believe the character originally came about in anothrr series (Simon & Simon, Murder She Wrote, or The Rockford Files). Does anyone remember that character besides me?

Tom Selleck's character Lance White is from The Rockford Files. He portrayed White twice on the venerable series starring the great James Garner. This role ultimately earned him the starring role in Magnum P.I. As a side note, Mr. Garner was Selleck's acting mentor.

Yeah I saw them the other day on Netflix. Remember them form Back Then too. What an ass! He was perfect for Lance.

Just finished watching his second appearance on Rockford, "Nice Guys Finish Dead" S6:E7. His character,Lance White, was so fun to watch. He is loved by everyone who meets him and he seems to deeply care about everyone he meets, an absolutely selfless altruist. He's a very successful and very competent and intuitive P.I. who seems to have a bit of blind luck always helping him just when needed. A caricature of the absolute anti-Rockford and Rockford is the only person on the planet who seems to have a problem with him. This was a very entertaining episode and Sellek was perfectly cast as the golden boy.

Just rewatched the episode with wife, forgot to mention a few more of Whites over the top attributes. He got a doctorate in his spare time cause "spare time is a resource". He has total recall. He's won the national award for best P.I.7 times- he keeps the awards in a closet cause he doesn't believe in showing off and he's about to be honored at a banquet by the LA Police.

"Rockford: The Lost Episodes" aired in the early 1990s.

One of the lost eps was called:

"White To The Start" and had Lance return this time with Vern St Cloud as his associate.
