Always pretends to be a veteran.

In the show Magnum, Las Vegas and Blue bloods he pretends to be a Vietnam Veteran. It is well known that selleck didn't serve in the military because of his family's influence.

I wonder if it is part of his phony conservatism. Gary Sinise also pretended to be a Marine in Csi:Ny.

I have no problem with it. Actors play the roles as they are written and many, many men of their (my) generation did serve in Vietnam. It's their job to "pretend".

As to the "family connection", where is your proof? Selleck did serve in Army reserves from 1967 to 1973(1st Battalion, 160th Infantry Regiment) attaining the rank of sergeant. His unit was called up during the Watts riots.

Firstly, he didn't "pretend" at being in the military- a character developed for a television show in which he portrayed did. That's like saying Martin Sheen "pretended" to be the President of the United States" because of "The West Wing."

Secondly, he did serve: he was a member of the California National Guard, 1967 to 1973.

Nothing phony there, except your ridiculous outrage.

He admitted in an interview that he used his father's influence to get into a reserve unit. As the star he has influence in creating his character. He chose the name Reagan and his backstory on "Blue bloods". I will admit that" Magnum" was the character that was written for him. BTW I am a proud cost guard veteran.

"reserve unit"

Let that roll around in your mind: "reserve unit"

Because that means he indeed IS a veteran. He's not pretending anything, unlike you...

who are pretending you know what you're talking about.

PS: He WASN'T in a "reserve unit": he was in the California National Guard. You are aware that the National Guard and US Army Reserve are two completely different things, correct?

reply

It's acting, moron. If actors didn't "pretend" to be things that they are not, there would be no more plays, movies, or television shows. Or did you believe Martin Sheen was really the president?
