Question for diehard fans?

Ever since Magnum P.I. ended production in 1988 has Tom Selleck ever
stated whether or not he would consider coming back in his most
famous role? Have read online rumors that he would never return
for any TV reunion and not for any amount of salary. Though this
is another hearsay and unconfirmed of course. Nowadays in the
internet age we really do not know what to believe and what not
to believe as the truth. He has been busy since 2010 with
Blue Bloods and I have never watched any of his Jessie Stone
TV movies. Would like to know what other fans have heard or may
know about this possibility. I personally like many of his other
fans would really enjoy seeing him come back as Thomas Magnum
in Hawaii and even interacting with the current five-0 characters.
Imagine seeing Magnum and McGarrett teaming up to solve the
week's current case on the islands!

I am a lifelong fan of Tom Selleck, not just because I loved Magnum P.I., but because I always respected his need and work at keeping his private life private. He leans conservative but has supported liberal candidates. He seems to always pick acting parts where the character is more pragmatic than political. The only thing I can think of is he seems like most real men I've known. When they leave something in their past, it stays in their past. I read in the Trivia section that he would not appear at all in the Magnum P.I. movie, which is the first time I've even heard of it actually going forward (I knew there'd been a lot of talk about making one). I think Mr. Sellers is possibly one of the most underrated actors in my lifetime. I love him as Frank Reagan on Blue Bloods. It would be nice if he got some Emmy recognition from it!

Heykate.....well written. And I agree with it all.

I also read somewhere maybe in the GQ article that he wouldn't do a Magnum reunion or have anything to do with a remake. I believe he said something to the effect of "no interest in having a cameo role".

I have like everything he has been in especially Quigley Down Under. Blue Bloods is probably my least favorite show or movie that he has been in.

I love just about everything he has been in. He was even born at the same hospital and city in Michigan I was. I am a lifetime fan of his!

Actually, in this thread, he is quoted as having said he had no interest in doing a cameo in a remake that mocks the original ( my take? He means like "Starsky & Hutch")

or 21 Jump Street.

I'm pretty sure i read a story where Selleck said that years ago not long after it ended he approached a studio about doing a Magnum movie and they turned him down.
