And by the way, I've heard that reverse mortgages are not as wonderful and hunky-dory as these ads claim, so... again: WHY???

To be honest, I didn't think of the connection of that line with Magnum until you mentioned it. I know I watched Magnum, back in the day, but not religiously, and certainly not recently, so the quote didn't really stick in my mind. But you're right, though, I now remember that he'd say that occasionally. In fact, I find it interesting that Magnum 'narrated' his episodes, to a degree. Kind of unusual, both then and now.
