He's really messed up his legacy with his recent movies like Alien: Covenant. What a piece of shit that was. Makes you think if his earlier movies were flukes or due to the people around him.

shareI actually really enjoyed Covenant. It’s far from the quality of Alien and I’m not sure I even consider it canon, but as an atmospheric space horror with stunning visuals and hideous creatures… it really delivers.
Plus Fassbender is excellent as David, and I like some of the ‘creator’ ideas.
I much preferred it to Prometheus.
i've actually been a scott agnostic through all of his career. the only film of his i've ever truly liked a lot was alien. he's made some other perfectly decent movies, i'm sure, but nothing that inspired anything more than a tepid attitude from me.
at least, that was the case until i watched the last duel yesterday morning. that movie was absolutely terrific, and i'm now possibly willing to go back and re-watch some of his films to see if i need to re-evaluate some stuff.
He used to be a great filmmaker but now he's just old.
