The Prisoner?

According to Aintitcool, Ridley Scott is in talks with Universal to direct a big-screen adaptation of The Prisoner.

This needs to happen.

This sounds like a good idea...

I've never seen the TV show, but the basic concept is nice.

It's similar to "The Martian" at the core: A man can't escape from a strange place and needs to survive against all odds.

And since it's about spies and simulated realities there's a lot of thrill & SiFi potential.

The show was tremendous. I dunno if I've ever seen such a densely-layered oddity on tv, before. It's comparable to Twin Peaks in its high strangeness and aura of mystery.

I recall reading once that Chris Nolan wanted to make a movie version of The Prisoner, and in the end he made Inception at Warner. Inception's plot is very similar to the plot of a single Prisoner episode, called "A, B, and C", I believe. Inception seems to be Nolan's homage to The Prisoner, but he couldn't call it an adaptation or remake because evidently Universal has the big-screen rights...
