shareSir Ridley Scott is winning the Best Director Oscar for THE MARTIAN.
Sir Ridley is the favorite to win based in All of The Bookers.
GoldDerby has Sir Ridley as the favorite to win Best Director Oscar and GoldDerby usually is right about Oscars winners.
SIR RIDLEY SCOTT, MICHAEL BAY, LUC BESSON, DC & WB MOVIES, EMMA WATSON, KRISTEN STEWART, etc
I have a feeling this is his year.
He's already been nominated three or four times in the past, so it wouldn't be a big deal if he didn't get nominated. But it would be nice if he won Best Director, and there is a lot of love for The Martian, Ridley Scott, and his sci-fi movies. This seems like the perfect chance for Ridley's fans in the Academy to honor him.
Also, the highest-grossing nominee usually wins, right? The Martian was huge. It would be a major snub if it wasn't nominated for Picture, Director, Adapted Screenplay, Production Design, and Editing, and it deserves to win at least one of them (Director). He was in his element, and the final product is a classic for the ages.
After having seen "The Revenant" yesterday, I think that Ridley has stiff competition, but a very good chance.
Inarritu directs bravura sequences, but as a whole "The Revenant" is a little bit of a mess.
The same with "Mad Max: Fury Road", the most overrated film of the year.
"The Martian" felt like one piece and is more original.
Tom McCarthy, Todd Haynes can't compare with their low budget efforts.
Not even nominated!
