After the Gladiator snub, it was pretty obvious that the Academy takes Ridley's talent for granted. I have no idea why this is the case. And then they gave Best Director to freaking Rob Marshall for Chicago? A dance choreographer who had never directed a movie before beat Ridley Scott for directing Black Hawk Down??

The Oscars are a popularity contest where the popularity can be bought. Ridley Scott is a legend and nobody can take that away from him. They can give talentless hacks all the Oscars they want but it won't make them more talented or successful than Ridley.

Perhaps that is why I love Ridley Scott so much: my favorite genres are sci-fi and epic.

Exodus: Gods and Kings definitely needs a director's cut. It did wonders for Kingdom of Heaven's reputation to have the director's cut playing in theaters for awards consideration and being released on DVD shortly thereafter. I'm sure Exodus is more problematic because of all the CGI that would need to be completed. Hopefully that Martian and Covenant money will cover Fox's expenses?

Lots of Scott movies need a director's cut. A release of Thelma & Louise with the alternate ending restored would be great, as the ending infamously tarnishes an otherwise outstanding film. I read he declined a longer version of Prometheus, even though everyone wants one. The was also a rumor at one point that 1492 was going to be extended, but I'm not sure what happened. One of the most gorgeous movies I've ever seen, though. My jaw spent a lot of time on the floor.

Yes, there are flaws, but not as many as in "The Revenant".

"Exodus" could be great with an hour more.

"Kingdom of Heaven-DC" is a masterpiece up there with his best.

FOX wanted EXODUS to be 150 minutes so Sir Ridley Scott made exactly that.

Then, Sir Ridley Scott said that EXODUS was a way better movie in his previous cut of 180 minutes(3 Hours) and 30 minutes MORE than the theatrical version.

EXODUS is a Personal Movie for Sir Ridley Scott Because is a Huge Epic about Two Brothers.
