does anybody know why he didnt appear in any of the expendables movies

Apparently he was approached by Stallone for the first one. He was up for the role of church which Bruce Willis ended up qith. He turned it down at the time due to reasons not wanting to do an ensemble piece at that time. I thick he would have been great in any one of them. He is one of my favorite actors.

Funny that he has stated he doesn't want to do ensemble pieces, yet he signed to star in the Hateful Eight...

Kurt has actually talked about that when he was doing press for Art of the Steal (great movie by the way) and it wasn't strictly ensemble flicks, he wasn't interested in revisiting the past and doing the 80s action movie thing again. Kurt is very opinionated when it comes to rehashing old *beep* and doing remakes and Expendables just played too much on revering the past for his taste. He was respectful in his comments though but that's why he's doing a project with Tarantino, finally and apart of the Fast and Furious family now, because they break tradition for his kind of film.

Hard not to respect his reasoning. It seems Kurt is comfortable with aging, and hasn't been going through a mid-life crisis since the 90's like Sly. Judging by the quality of the franchise, it looks like he made the right choice.

if he had stated he wasnt doing it because he felt he was too old for those kinda projects i would have respected his decision but his reasons for not doing it were that he didnt want to share the screen with other big names he should get over himself

id also like to point out i just checked his current projects one is the new fast and furious movie - furious 7 which is an action movie and then theres bone tomahawk which is a western and sounds like another action movie so hes still making them
