Anyone else see him as Lupin?

I know he was originally offered the role of Snape, and while I'm not sure he would have been quite right for it I'm seriously disappointed he wasn't offered Lupin instead of David Thewlis. Thewlis isn't terrible, just... not my Lupin. It's not so much "OMG eww he's ugly" but he's a little too large in stature, and just doesn't have Lupin's soft-spoken-yet-still-awesome quality to him.

Roth would have been just perfect. He's not too far off from my mental image of Lupin, with longer hair and a big shabby overcoat he'd be a dead ringer. He's a cutie but not in an obviously conventional way, his eyes could project both Lupin's kindness and his mischievous former Marauder side, and we know Roth can play someone who kicks ass when things get serious. Plus, you get another team up of Roth and Oldman, what could be better?

Ah well. I know whats done is done, but from now on Roth is gonna be my mental image of my favorite Hogwarts professor :)

Fair enough, if that's what you think. I like Thewlis and Roth, though neither of them are how I pictured Lupin. You mentioned Thewlis being too large, well couldn't I say that Roth is too small? It's not too important really, and Lupin's height is never given in the books. Though I'd imagine him to be adult size, while Roth would barely be bigger than the main Hogwartz students.

I'm a quitter! I come from a long line of quitters! In fact, it's surprising I'm here at all.

I love the both of them too, but neither are my Lupin either. I think Thewlis did well though. But I think the height suits Lupin well, actually.

I think Tim wouldn't have been a bad Snape actually. His problem would indeed be his height! Snape would only be half as intimidating if he was as short as Tim. If Tim was taller, he should definitely been Snape! Just imagine him saying those lines! Guh, I'd faint and even -like- Snape because of TR (bad fan, ikr)

But to be honest, Tim has been in so many movies in which he was a vilian, that I couldn't have pictured him as a 'good guy'.

Yes! Totally! I just decided that for myself.
Although in my head he is a bit taller (I like tall guys), to me Tim Roth perfectly captures the kind of... unorthodox allure Lupin should have. Not to say Tim is unattractive, but for me it kind of snuck up on me. I was watching Lie to me (the first show I saw with him in it) and a few eps into the second season it totally hit me how... *ahem* nice-looking he is.
Plus, he has the perfect marauder smile :D, and you're right, his eyes do have that mischievous gleam.
