Andy Capp personified?

I think Tim Roth would make the best Andy Capp, the little Cockney schemer that used to grace the comics pages. Most American probably only know Andy Capp from his drawing on the Hot Fries that are sold in the gas stations on this country, but my parents had several of the comic strip books that I laughed over while I was a kid. I've never seen an actor who more closely resembles him! That's actually a compliment, Tim, if you read any of these posts. Andy keeps Flo with him, even he drives her crazy, and he's always chatting up some lovely in the pub! I think a TV series based on that would be another great reason to watch BBCA.

Andy Capp is from the North East love, not the South East nor a cockney. More suited to be played by Tim Healy than Tim Roth.

Sorry, with an American midwest ear I'm not too good at differentiating between British accents. I meant more his body language and the way he played Cal Lightman, sort of shifty and a schemer. I'm not familiar with Tim Healy so I'll have to check him out. Thanx

That's ok Tessa, I didn't realise you were American. It's understandable you didn't realise :-) Also I do see your point lo.
Tim Healy by the way IS a North East actor (Newcastle-born) and is very well known in the UK and probably Europe from roles in TV shows such as Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Boys From The Bush and Benidorm.
He would not need to "do" an accent for Andy Capp as they are from the same place.
