shes english if thats wot ur talking bout. they both are but i think natasha went to the us properly but joely stayed here... is that right?..i dunno....maybe thats why natasha has a bigger us accent..but joely puts on the accent in nip tuck coz she dosnt have an american accent in real life

Natasha lives in new york and Joely lives in London.They both have an english accent.Joely is very soft spoken and Natasha has a more mature accentbut it has changed in reacent years because he smokes.Natasha sounds very much like her mother Vanessa Redgrave.Joely went to america in her school years to study.

I know what you mean. A couple weeks ago I had heard Joely speaking (can't remember now what the program/interview/whatever was) & her accent was THICK. Interestingly, you never hear it on Nip/Tuck.

While I'm sure this is going to open an entire can of worms that I really don't have time for right now, I'll try to answer that question as simply & quickly as I can.

Americans speak plain. There is nothing special or unusual about our speech. Our R's are not rolled (unless we're performing or singing), our words are not overly fast, uh, most Americans' words are enunciated clearly, our speech is neither choppy nor "flowing", just plain. Very very plain. I don't know that my explaination attempt here is going to help someone that isn't from around these parts, but I'm trying.

I'm sure you've heard how (my personal fave') Italians speak, how Australians speak, how the Irish speak, how Asians speak, how Latinos speak, & so on. All of these nationalities have their own dialect. Their own individual "sound" to their speech. Well... If 2 separate nationalities are speaking to each other - they are each going to say that the other has an "accent". A different sound. A different emphasis.

Therefore, to an America born American, a Brit has an accent.

That's quite a remarkably closed minded opinion. I could be just as narrow-minded and say no americans do NOT speak plain. Us Brits are the ones who speak plain, with the possible exception of the Scots. Most "Noo Yoik" accents are difficult to interprit, as are the southern accents you always hear on Jerry Springer.

So to a British born Brit, americans are the ones wich accents.

Unlike you, I was not putting anyone down for how they speak. All any of us know in terms of language & how to verbalize it comes largely from where we hail from & how people there speak. Simple as that.

Also, as I had already specifically stated, I am well aware that my explaination was far from perfect, but the person asking ME (not you) seemed to understand what I was getting at. Considering you had nothing positive to contribute, it was pointless for you to butt in ...

There was no reason for anyone to be offended by my words as no offense was intended. At least not on MY part.
