A certain Oscar nod this year...
A dead-lock for Coriolanus... she is also the favorite to win... Yippeeeeee!

shareHow the hell did she miss the SAG nod?
shareThe Weinstein's haven't started a campaign for her yet in the trades. They've only just released screeners and the film doesn't open properly in the states for another month. Plus she's here in London doing a play so she can't campaign until that finishes.
But yes, I was still surprised she missed out for this one as they love veterans and they've nominated her a few times and given her one win. This is an awards ceremony that's relatively new so I think that's all a good indication of how well-liked she is with them (when they see the film/TV series she's in, of course...).
We'll see what happens when the Golden Globe nominations are announced tomorrow. She needs all the help she can get at the moment.
She missed at the golden globes too...godamnit... I so want her to win a second Oscar...
shareYep, I think it's over for her now.
shareI think she'll get screwed over by Jessica Chastain's shrill caricature performance in "The Help". Either her or the girl that played the daughter in The Descendants.
"It's just a puzzlebox!"
First off, Jessica Chastain in MARVELOUS in The Help. I was touched by her in several scenes. Especially since she has so many films this year, you see her range.
Now NO ONE is more of a Vanessa fan than I, should she be nominated? Yes!!! Should she win? Yes!!! If Jessica wins, it won't be a huge upset for me. If she isn't nominated, then that is my big issue...with Abigail Breslin getting it for little miss sunshine over her brilliant performance in Venus and the Atonement snub (as well as Camelot, The Devils, Wetherby & Prick Up Your Ears) PLUS, she was great as Elizabeth I.
I thought she played a very eccentric Elizabeth.. what a ridiculous movie Anonymous. She was a laughing stock...
shareI'm sorry. First off, I am a huge admirer of Ms Redgrave (as an actress),but...Wetherby? Venus? You seriously think she deserved a nod for those performances? Honestly? She was great as usual but nothing special with very limited screen time (Venus). And in Prick Up Your Ears she didn't do anything and her character served as a story teller, not pertinent to the story with no character development. Sorry, but it's true. I love her in everything (in The Whistleblower in particular) but those performances were not Oscar worthy. Now, I thought `Agatha` and `Coriolanus` were.
