Retiring

Just recently announced his retirement. He said he will retire from acting after filming the upcoming film The Old Man and the Gun this Spring. I understand why he wants to move on at age 80...but at the same time he was giving us some amazing work in his later years like All is Lost. So thankful for the great body of work he has given over the years. At least he is still keeping directing on the table.

I agree but we still have Pitt. So it's like a Redford Redux.

At the age of 80 I am not sure how many directing opportunities there would be. I still think he might tempted back to acting with highly paid cameo appearances. His stock is high in Hollywood because unlike Pacino, De Niro and Hoffman he did not overdo it with comedies.

It's that man again!!

Redford is unique because there are SO many actors in hollywood that would love to work with him. If you watch the making of The Company You Keep so many actors said they only agreed to play their part so that they could work with Robert Redford. And when you are the person that founded the Sundance Film Festival that opens you up to so many young artists that would love to have there work directed by Redford. So as a director (like Clint Eastwood) he will be free to direct as many movies as he wants for as long as he wants.
