Is there anyone else who didn't know until they watched the oscers?

Like you I was shocked when I only found out while watching the Oscars(was also shocked about Susannah York). I didn't think he was that old, but then Cancer will get you whatever your age.

A fine actor who will be sadly missed.

I found out on the 2nd January. I watch the news and read the papers.
