He did what he did, but his celebrity has worked against him just as much as for him. It doesn't help that women with stories that are impossible to verify, come out 20-30 years later because the "metoo" movement has made it fashionable to have a sexual assault story.

Nothing more to say about it, he admitted he did it... then of course he fled the country because he realized that admitting you raped a 13 year old was probably going to result in him getting some time in a prison where the odds were high that he would get to experience rape from the victims side on a regular basis.
