MovieChat Forums > Roman Polanski Discussion > 11th Victim Has Come Forward

2 years already I thought the ImdB board discussion was closed! Looks like it was just hidden ^^

To my surprise, I came across a betting site: How much victims Polanski did rape. The highest number was 69 with odds of 2 against 1.

??? This site went live just before IMDB closed. They said much of the old posts as well....I still don't know of a better site. The others I have seen are an organized mess ...

With evidence, there was one statutory rape (it was consensual, though she was underage), and that's it.

The rest are accusations with zero evidence. And they follow a very popular pattern last years: the 'victims' suddenly 'remember' that they were raped by some famous guy, but back then they didn't tell anybody, not the police, not the family or the circle of friends. And for some reason, after 'remembering' they don't call the police. They call the newspapers, gossip magazines and TV programs.

What is the problem with these guys? So many actors have been accused of raping and groping women. Why don't they just get a life?!

"(it was consensual, though she was underage)"

- As a minor, she couldn't legally consent. But it's not the same whether we're talking about something consensual, even though that consent was not legally valid, or whether she was forced. This case, it was consensual.
- She was not 'drugged'. She took some recreational drug voluntarily. She knew the drug and she had taken it before.
- Polanski was not her first sexual partner. She had several sexual partners by then. She never gave too much importance to that incident since Polanski was just another sexual encounter more.

Of course, that doesn't change the fact the was a minor and it was statutory rape. But we're not talking about a little innocent kid playing with dolls. We're talking about a teen that used to take drugs and have sex with different partners, Polanski not being the first of them.

The age, by the way, was going to be challenged by the lawyer of Polanski, since there were some problems with the papers (though finally that was dropped because of the agreement. Anyway, you check some pics, she looks like 15.

The 13-year-old girl whose case came to court was drugged. The sex wasn't consensual, and wouldn't have been legal if it was.

FYI I've heard rumors over the years that he has maintained an interest in girls of that age, and has spent much of his life living in countries with lower ages of consent than the US for that reason. For what rumors are worth.

The age of consent in US is 16-18, and Europe is 14-16.

I think he lived in France or Switzerland. Yeap, sure people who live in France live there because of age of consent (facepalm here).

What's more: I heard most white males living in US are all of them serial murderers. I've heard rumors over the years that they are nazis, belong to the KKK and use their spare time in killing sprees, and have spent much of his life living in countries with less restrictive gun laws than France for that reason. For what rumors are worth.

What 43 year old male gives a 13 year old girl champagne and a quualude?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Polanski_sexual_abuse_case.

He did sexual acts that no 13 year old should experience. This is true no matter how precocious or promiscuous. And, I not buying the latter.

From the Guardian:On 1 February 1978, after 42 days in jail, Polanski fled the US while awaiting final sentencing, having pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. On these facts, everyone agrees. There are no hazy conspiracy theories – we know exactly what happened because Polanski admitted to it and later wrote about it in astonishing detail in his autobiography, Roman by Polanski, published six years after he left the US and went to France, where he still lives. There are some quibbles about who said what, but the generally agreed facts are as follows: in March 1977 Polanski, who was then 43, took a child, Samantha Gailey (now Geimer), who he knew was 13 years old, to Jack Nicholson’s house to take photos of her for a magazine. There, he gave her champagne and, according to her, quaaludes. He then had sex with her, drove her home and, the next day, was arrested.

kuku. I quote/paraphase from the article, "Who was then 43, took a child, who he knew was 13 years old."
