Was the cast bitter that Luke Perry was credited as a “special guest star” upon his return during the 9th season?

With all the hype surrounding Eddie Murphy hosting “Saturday Night Live” tonight, I remember hearing that Eddie’s castmates during his 4-year tenure on SNL were not exactly thrilled that he once hosted while he was a cast member. So, given the fact that his name in that episode was announced last, and as “... and your host, Eddie Murphy,” I’m wondering if the cast of 90210 had any animosity about Luke being credited last as “special guest star.”

I doubt it since it allowed everybody to get a paycheck for a few more seasons. if he had not come back the series might as well have been pulled. Compared to the earlier years there was essentially no marketing available then. Studios tried to shift heart throb status onto ziering and green after years of them being in the background. And that's admirable in a way. Give them some screen time. But it was difficult to believe the series focus was on them. What they should have done was also mend fences with Shannen and bring her back.
