Stroke

shareApparently they're calling it a "massive" stroke, which means little hope of a meaningful recovery.
Everyone, have a talk with your loved ones, about what you want done if you are not able to make decisions for yourself. Do you want to live on if you're going to be disabled or bedridden, do you want to be kept alive on lift support, unable to eat or move or breathe without machines? Have that talk now, because you just never know what's going to happen when. Perry was in the prime of life and seemed perfectly healthy, and look what happened.
So i guess it's another Chris Reeves situation here. Very sad. Life can really throw you on a loop in the blink of an eye. And then no money or fame is gonna help you out. Wishing the best for him and his family.
shareJust to play devils advocate..the actress Patrica Neal (an Oscar winner..who starred in Hud and many films in the 40's. 50's and 60's..and even later.) had a stroke or a series of strokes at the age of 39.
They left her in a coma for weeks and she had to learn to walk and talk again...and to read and to remember.
But she did.
It depends on the damage but right now there is still hope.
Hope is the last thing leaving you as they say,
share But Neal's stroke was based upon a rare heredity situation (extremely small arteries). I read her autobiography,
and she survived partially due to the TYPE of stroke she had (which was, indeed, a bad one).
But I also just saw a recent interview with Sharon Stone, and she suffered a stroke back in
2001, which I had forgotten. She, too, had to learn to walk and talk again, and her mouth
droops every so slightly (although that could be the result of plastic surgery).
I never even knew that about Sharon Stone..
But I'm just thinking we should remain positive until we have more info. We don't know everything yet.
I do think a massive stroke with massive oxygen deprivation is something we would hope for no one..but it does seem the younger the person and the speed of medical attention does help for a more positive outcome.
Neal and Stone were FAR younger than Perry. But, yes, let's hope he makes it.
And there's a lesson here for all of us. Simple high blood pressure can you leave you paralyzed in an instant.
Think of it as turning on the backyard hose and not turning on the nozzle. At some point, there's a burst.
I'm 56, and it's got me rethinking everything.
