When you see him in old reruns...
... of 70's police dramas, he's still funny.
shareHow about some examples. From what I can recall, he was still playing serious roles in the seventies.
shareThe fact that he's being serious, that's what's funny.
shareSome examples his serious roles:
The Amsterdam Kill
Forbidden Planet
Ransom
Creepshow
Prom night
Yes, and it's because I grew up with knowing him in Airplane!, Police Squad! and The Naked Gun.
He guest-starred in two episodes of the old cop show The Streets of San Francisco playing different characters and the whole time his straight face kept making me think of Frank Drebin. I think the only way to see past the comedian aspect for me is his role in Forbidden Planet. Even in Creepshow, he's kind of like funny still, in a dark, odd way.
