I met him.

About a year ago he came to a film festival up where i live. The festival was in a small town so i saw him like 8 times over the course of 2 days. I asked him if he'd sign an autograph and he kindly said yes. I even shook his hand.
Btw he is much taller than you'd think.

I met him last night at the Maryland Film Festival, where I worked the screening of his movie "Opa" You're right, he is very tall, and gave autographs to people who asked them. He has a handsome son, and a lovely wife. At the screening of his movie, he sat on the floor and watched it, instead of taking a prime seat.

He must be a simple minimalist, because I saw him drive off in his Kia Sorento.
Simple person. No entourage or anything like that.

I saw him last week at the Ischia Global Music & Film Fest in Ischia and he was absolutely charming!! The press conference was very interesting and he seemed a very thoughtful man as well as fun to be around. Several of my friends asked him for autographs after the press conference was over and he did not (seem to) mind at all. I asked him something about the short movies he directed/wrote and he very kindly took the time to answer.
And yes...he is tall!!

It's not a really big one but over the 3-4 editions they've had so far there's been some big names travelling down there for the festival and, my guess, the beatiful location :D

I met him in August of 06. He came to the Traverse City Film Festival. They had a Kubrick film festival. They showed Full Metal Jacket in 35mm. Matthew talked before the screening and after. After that he had a book signing next door. Again he talked for 40 minutes. He then signed his book on the making of the film and life. I waited until after everyone had gotten there's signed. I got a book signed and posters and photo's. He was most gracious and signed everything I had. he even Wrote Pvt Joker on my stuff. He is truly one of the nicest people I have met.
