His speech had absolutely no direction and no delivery, and amounted to no more than a handful of ideas. He could have taken any one of those ideas, fleshed it out, and delivered a really good speech; instead he just kind of went all over the place and recited a bunch of platitudes. I think the only rewarding part of his speech was knowing how horribly embarrassed his son was the whole time he was on stage.
The student speaker completely blew him away.
