that would be so brilliant if he appeared on that show! i have been wondering exactly the same thing - whether they are good friends these days or not? or if they even were in the brat pack days.
remember in boston legal when denny and alan are dressed as flamingos and alan says "you look pretty in pink"

I don't know about Rob, but I know Andrew at least used to be friends with James. I recall Andrew relating a story about speaking to James on the phone for hours (read it in an interview about Spader)...Andrew said James would go on and on and on, and Andrew could wander off and get a drink or whatever, come back to the phone, and James would still be going.

I think they got on well because they were both 'East Coast' guys...not so much into the whole Hollywood thing...

james can talk can't he?! just watch any interview! though it's never boring.

Very true, Dimble...James is quite the talker, but it's never a dull story. Did you see him on (I think) Conan, where he was talking about cooking the Thanksgiving turkey? I think James would be a blast to just hang around for a few hours - imagine the stories

i can't remember if i saw that but if it's on youtube i'll have a look. i saw him on i think it was leno (an old interview on youtube) and he was telling this story about a film where the house was supposed to burst into flames but it could be turned off at the flick of a switch. i won't tell the whole story but it's worth watching if you can find it.
i agree he would be a blast just to talk about nothing with! he is very insightful, unusually so compared to most people in general.
