I know a fair number of people who despise Andi MacDowell. It appears that there are a few of them on this board as well. This begs the question, "What the hell?"
Personally, I could take or leave her--she's simply an okay actress with a few notable films, but really, she's just an average actress with an average career.
So, for you members of the I Hate Andie MacDowell Club, what's the deal?

shareI teach acting and on behalf on the acting community, Andie MacDowell is a GREAT actress ! If you think Jodie Foster or Kristin Scott Thomas or Dame Judi Dench are better actresses, you a sadly mistaken.

shareTo be fair, four weddings is a very overated movie and, let's face it you would have picked Kristen Scott Thomas. But also you've got to be fair, she's very good in romantic comedies, Groundhog Day was fantastic and not just for Bill Murray, she was excellent. IMHO better than Meg Ryan's whiny performances in sleepless and YGM. She's very good looking and has been good in a lot of good movies.
Oh, and if I was Kiry Keger I would have been infatuated too.
