Seriously now...is she Mildly Retarded???

She certainly seems like it....(I'm honestly not trying to be rude or anything-just the way she acts even when she's not in a movie, she just behaves like someone who is a bit slow...)

It won't give up, it wants me dead-God damn this noise inside my head...

I noticed that as well. In all her movies she always plays the same dumb or naive characters. Did SHE write her IMDB page? Because she is FAR from versatile!

reply

I wouldn't use the word "mildly". She could just be cursed with a speech impediment that makes her seem in a perpetual daze.

I'm pretty sure she has a speech impediment, cause I have one similar to, or maybe the same as her. It has nothing to do with your intelligence, but she may have trouble being able to control the inflection of her voice, or maintaining any inflection at all. She also may have ADD, and isn't able to transition between different ideas easily or change the subject smoothly in conversation.
I don't know what's going on in her head though, she may be spacey in there for all I know.

Just here to make you aware of this, not angrily or defensively, but what she possibly has is an Auditory Processing Disorder, easily mistaken for ADD, ADHD, and a hearing loss.

reply

She does? I have seen many films and talk-show appearances with her and never noticed any sort of speech impediment, or mild retardation.

Films are not reality. Reality is not film. Film is only an approximation of reality.

I came here with this question, too.

She speaks like someone who has some type of hearing loss. Something does seem a bit off.

In "Natural Born Killers", she was neither naive NOR dumb. Amoral, maybe, but that has nothing to do with intelligence. And being even mildly retarded always affects the basic movements and speech patterns. Juliette doesn't have the slurred speech patterns and awkward body movements that signify 'mildly retarded'. Sorry to burst your bubble!

As further ammo against your argument - that powerful 'meeting in the theatre' scene in Cape Fear was actually improvised by Lewis and DeNiro. Maybe she is no dummy, after all?
