He Would Have Been A True Star

He was the son of the man who put martial arts movies on the MAP in the USA. He was great in Rapid-Fire, but he was charming and awesome in The Crow. Brandon had at least as much charisma as his father did, and more personality. I don’t think there has ever been a more intense personality than Bruce Lee, but intense is not always likeable. I am obviously speculating, but I think that, had he lived, Brandon Lee could have set a new standard for action stars: one with an impeccable heritage, combined with an embraceable grace. What a loss, on so many levels.

Isn’t it interesting, that, when genius is lost, cf, Lee, Eva Cassidy, Jimi Hendrix, Einstein, Bowie, that loss resonates at so many levels?

I agree. I even think he would have broadened out to other roles in addition to the action genre -- also just speculation, but I base it the straight drama moments in The Crow, and also on what an engaging love interest protagonist he made as Eric Draven. He had the looks and the acting chops to do romantic drama, and even the cheeky edge to do romantic comedy.

He could also have handled straight drama too -- he could have played the troubled guy in a family or workplace drama, the villain in something like Pacific Heights; and as he aged, the corrupt CEO of a corporation; the family man whose world goes wrong. He had chops, it's only that we got mere glimpses of the potential of his range, in his few roles to date.

Came here today as it's the 25th anniversary of his death.

Thank you both for remembering Brandon. I’ll never forget how I learned about his death. I was at the gym, doing pull-ups. One of the personal trainers walked up to me, looking very shaken, which was odd, because he was a very positive, happy-go-lucky guy. He knew that I studied and taught martial art. He told me about the freak accident. It felt like all the air had suddenly left my body. Rest In Peace, Brandon Lee.

I felt that way a while ago too. 3 of my favorite rock stars died by suicide or OD close together.
