Tribute Watch
I always try to watch a film of theirs I haven’t seen when a major actor or filmmaker passes and in honour of the great Ian Holm, I watched Dreamchild (1985) in which he portrays Alice in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll. A superb performance by Coral Browne as the elderly lady who long ago had served as the inspiration for Alice, and equally fine work by Holm in flashbacks as the author. A very strange and slightly unsettling film, marred by a romantic subplot but worth a look for these two great performances and some Jim Henson puppetry.
