Philip was mostly a rather intense actor, wish he had a few more comedic roles though.

He was hilarious in Boogie Nights. My favorite comedic role of his is definitely in The Big Lebowski, though.

He was hilarious in happiness

Patch Adams, tho it's a dark humor and his character isn't particularly funny. If you haven't seen it, you really should check it out. I'm not sure I've watched another movie that has made me laugh so hard, cry so unashamedly, and feel so inspired.

The only role of his that resembles comedy in my mind is Punch-Drunk Love with Adam Sandler. Philipe's role was as intense as always but the whole movie is a form of very dark, twisted comedy and there was a particular scene when he was fighting with someone on the phone that just cracked me up for 10 minutes.
