Could he be a new Leslie Nielsen?

Well heres my thinking, I have watched him in a number of movies and he delivers the lines real well and makes me laugh even when I dont want to, its the stuff in between that lets him down he just always looks like hes acting.

The same can be said for the god of spoof, Leslie Nielsen so I was just thinking would that be a good way for Hugh to take his career, hes never gonna get serious roles and the romcom thing has been done way too much.

If you check his filmography it contains more than just romcoms.

I like Hugh and find him extremely entertaining. He's a natural wit and a great chat show guest. I'm rarely disappointed when I watch him. He doesn't pretend to be a Laurence Olivier, but he has a great screen presence. For me the likes of Tom Cruise is the diabolical one. All he plays is himself, just in different costumes. His acting is so hammy I can make a sandwich with it lol

You have not seen Cloud Atlas. That may change your mind. Oh check out an old Alfred Hitchcock Presents with a very young and malevolent Leslie Nielson. Leslie had range that didn't get tapped.

nah, leslie had little range and was very wooden, but was very good at being intense which made him perfect for dead pan comedy. obviously with a great sense of humour.

Glad you find him good I can't stand the actor it's really wooden and poor bitter moon was the only film which was ok the rest cater for females nothing else

Before he began doing comedy he was a fantastic dramatic actor. He'd always wanted to do comedy but never had the chance before the series Police Squad. That was when his comedy talents became known and his comedy career took off. When he first started out he was the ingenious, then the hero and he was a villain. Look for him in the 1956 film Forbidden Planet. He's an amazing actor.

Next time you might try reading the resume on the IMDB. There's a lot of info in the biography, too.
