I don't get it would Nolan and casting all these villains with all these really young actors.
Heath's Joker wasn't as maniacal as Crispin would if he played the Joker.

shareAfter his outrageous demands for the Back to the future sequels why would anybody cast him for a big role if there was a possibility of a sequel? I'm sure there was such plans but nobody expected heath to die.
He, Glover supposedly demanded a million dollars with script approval for BTTF2. This was a supporting role in the 1980s!
Then he sued them for wrongly using his likeness so people would think he was in that film. He was justified in suing but the bottom line why bother casting a headache like him?
No, he would not have been better than Heath Ledger. Heath's performance was excellent. Crispin's wouldn't have been.
