A charitable (and quiet) deed in 1988

I read with interest on here a 1987 quote from Jami "I'm at a time in my life where I'm so filled up that I don't want more." In 1988, I worked at the Hemophilia Foundation of So. California. One of our board members knew Jami and invited her to join several kids with hemophilia who were going to on a field trip to Universal Studios. She readily said yes. When I met her at the Studios, I mentioned that I had let the entertainment press know that she was doing this as I thought it would be great publicity for her. Nicely, she told me no, she was doing this because she wanted to and not for the publicity. She asked me to uninvite the press. She was great with the kids (and was a big kid herself). We talked of everything but show biz. I truly felt she was thinking of leaving the business. Just a well-grounded, down-to-earth person.
