SNL Monologue

A perfect example of Teri in her breathtaking prime, here is her opening monologue from the episode of Saturday Night Live she hosted in 1983 - http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/teri-garr-monologue/n9140

What an absolute BABE!!!! I've had a serious crush on Ms. Garr since I saw her in "Star Trek" w/Bob Lansing. Probably my favorite out of a short list of actresses who managed to captivate you with beauty, smoldering sex appeal, all while hip throwing you to the floor writhing in comedic agony! She had that special knack of playing the ditzi blonde to the hilt, then with a slinky move or that split second sideways twinkle, made you suddenly realize this woman was razor sharp of wit & intellect as well as drop dead gorgeous! I'm reasonably sure this is why Letterman invited her to so many "duels" ...he knew he had met his match and figured "what a way to go!!!".
I sincerely hope Ms. Garr is winning her battle back to health against that dreadful disease.
side note: I did meet her once (she would never remember....)'and she was very gracious. And I managed to avoid making a complete fool of myself......whew!

Just came here because I saw it was her birthday today---I grew up watching Ms. Garr in these yogurt commercials and on various David Letterman appearances while coming up in the '80s, and she always struck me as real eccentric, quirky and sweet--but in a good way. She also proved to be a good comedic and dramatic actress too---in this one film she did in 1989, called COLD FEET, she actually starred in a rare villain role as a calculating murderess for once. Good film (and funny too) but it got slept on when it came out--it's worth tracking down, since it also stars John Lithgow as one of her victims. A shame that her career was kind of sidelined by her illness,as she was always one of my favorite actresses, but cool to know that she was still acting up until recently. I'm assuming she's probably retired now, due to her age. But nice to hear that she's still with us---I read an interview online with her some years ago where she let it all hang out about her years in show biz, how women were treated in Hollywood---it was really entertaining to read and funny, too. Saw YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN recently, and not only did she look good in it, she and the whole cast (Gene Wilder included,of course) made that film, which was hilarious in some parts---really enjoyed that one, too.
