Thanks for not playing stereotypes

I think Emilio Estevez should be applauded for not playing stereotypical "just crossed the boarder type" Hispanic characters. It seems like every time a Hispanic/Latino character is shown in the media that character speaks broken English as if they are a recent immigrant. Hollywood seems obvious to the fact that many Hispanics have been in the US for many generations and do not speak with Spanish-influenced-accents.

Some time back I was thinking if there was any exception to this rule and then it suddenly hit me, of course! Emilio Estevez.

Well his father and brother never went in for that stuff either. At least, nothing I can think of off the top of my head.

True, only their stage names are not Spanish sounding at all. By keeping his real name, which is obviously Spanish, Emilio really does break the mold.

Emilio kept his real name, because unlike Charlie, he's didn't want to use their father to get somewhere in life.

And what's Charlie done? Brought absolute shame and humiliation on his father and his entire family.

Shame?

I don't really think people associate Martin Sheen with his son. Why should they? Martin Sheen has long been a highly respected actor. Charlie's exploits won't change that.
