Yes, I thought the same thing upon my first viewing this movie. But Jennifer Ehle, although she resembles Streep, is far more beautiful, striking I would say. (A woman's perspective)

She sure does! Surprising I never noticed that. Re: babyfat, I remember reading a critic who commented on her being "bloated". That knocked me for a loop, she doesn't look bloated, I guess if you apply Hollywood standards of weight that what some think. I love her look, she looks healthy and normal (to me).

Absolutely...I caught 'Paradise Road' in the middle, the first time I saw it, and thought it was an young Meryl Streep movie for a few minutes, because she definitely looks like her.

I think that regarding the babyfat thing, the dresses worn in Pride & Prejudice don't really give one a sense of a woman's waist/hips size. She is busty to be sure - an important attribute for Lizzy, especially in the scene where Miss Bingley asks Lizzy to take a turn about the room and Mr. Darcy comments about admiring their figures - Lizzy is much more voluptuous than poor Miss Bingley with hardly a bust at all. One doesn't have to wonder who's figure he was admiring! I think that physically, Jennifer is a perfect Lizzy -- although Kiera Knightly did a good job portraying Lizzy, I don't think she physically looked the part as much as Jennifer Ehle did.
