I always thought he was a schmuck, which is the Yiddish word for penis. I was hoping the shark would eat him, slowly and painfully and humiliatingly, like it did in the novel, but the Jewish director didn’t allow that. Nah, there are no Jews in showbiz deciding what we get to see. Nah. Not at all.

Dreyfuss has never really bothered me either way. I think he’s a competent actor but I wouldn’t rate him as a favourite of mine. I remember him being quite amusing in Down and Out in Beverly Hills and absolutely hilarious Family Guy where he parodied his voice role in Stand By Me.
So yeah, he seems an odd target for your ire, but each to their own.
