The best beating ever in the movies; Clinton Pell

Deputy Clinton Pell got the best beating ever in the movies in Mississippi Burning.
Gene Hackman (Rupert Anderson) gave him a close shave with a straight-edged razor and scared the crap out of him. Pell was left unconscious and spinning around in the barber's chair.

What does that mean?

It was a good movie all round for portraying violence.

Hope we never go back there.
