He is very versatile. Actually I feel like he doen't get his due for the roles he takes on. I certainly feel he is one of the better A-List actors in Hollywood today. I appreciate that he is more of an actor than a star as well which I think aids in making his performances believable.

I've always admired Damon for his diversity in roles.. I've always kinda liked Brad Pitt for the same reason. 'The lack of diversity is why I'm not a huge Denzel Washington fan. Let me guess.. he's going to play a strong black man.

I agree as well. I wasn't a huge "Good Will Hunting" fan, but over the years, Matt Damon had built up as impressive a resume as any actor in his age group. He is also consistently good in just about any role he takes on. Its no wonder that he's at the top of the list for so many good roles.

I really loved him in roles like Mark Whitacre in "The Informant!", where he really departs from his typical film pesona.

I can agree with everything you've said except for the remark about Washington. He's played a football coach, a high school teacher...he was even in Much Ado About Nothing. It is true that he plays a lot of "strong black men," but maybe that's because most black roles in Hollywood sadly still...stereotypically black. Even the first two I mentioned relied on his race. That's something that I've never really stopped to consider until just now...hmm..
