shareNah, we don't have to see a Ripper who waves the knife like a drunken girl.
No, seriously: After Sweeney I don't think we need another Victorian serial killer/slasher movie by Burton and Depp. It's like them repeating themselves.
Also Depp already starred in a Ripper movie (even though standing on the "other side" of the story). - So once more, repeating, repeating, reapeating.
I don't think that either of both is much interested in that, nor do I think the majority of their fans would be (I for example am not).

I kind of wonder if Tim Burton should've directed From Hell.

Hmmm. Might have been a real treat indeed. - On the other hand: then perhaps we wouldn't have gotten Sweeney Todd (because of the repetition thing I addressed in my post above).- And at least I would've regretted this opporunity. Because I think it's one of his most "grown-up" movies ever.
- They way the camera pulls away at the end to leave dying Benjamin the privacy of his last seconds and the horror of comprehension of his big mistake (killing the Beggar Woman) is such a great scene, and handled with so much deep respect to his main character (giving it the width of a Greek Tragedy) - I wouldn't miss THAT.
Also, as we know, Burton's been fascinated with Sweeney since he attended a stage show in London in his student days - I wonder IF he ever agreed to direct From Hell... or if he might had tried to change the script a bit at least (if it was in his power) to make it more Sweeney- like...
However, just thinking "out loud".
