And another corset and gown......

Don't get me wrong, I've been a big fan of HBC for many years, but even I am starting to get a bit fed up of the "let's get Helena to wear a big dress, huge hair and strange makeup" caricature she keeps trotting out. Burton is much to blame for her stereotyping in recent years. It's like she keeps trotting out the same performance with different hair colours.

Frankenstein, Lone Ranger, Great Expectations, Harry Potter, Twelfth Night, Les Mis, Sweeney Todd, Alice............ and now Cinderella. It's always the same... anyone feel that she's not so much a serious actress now (Portraits Chinois, Mighty Aphrodite, The Theory Of Flight) as opposed to taking a big pay cheque to do the blockbusters........ it's just getting so DULL.......

I feel very diffrent. She enjoys period prices, but not everything you said matched your own description (ex: Harry potter). Her characters are rarely played the same way, and they have big hair because she has big hair.

I don't understand this. It's just her signature look. Look at Johnny Depp. Is he much better? He always has that dirty "looks like he hasn't showered in years" look.

Look at people like Richard Madden (I'm only using him as an example since he's in Cinderella with HBC). I'll admit I've only seen him in Game of Thrones, but I can't imagine him, this early in his career, playing someone OTHER than the handsome, Prince Charming making girls go weak in the knees. You could seriously make this argument about ANYONE who's been typecast.

I agree with the OP. Her look has not evolved in the last 10 years
