Same is true for the majority of famous people.. especially those with 'exotic' ..'quirky' looks!

Nepotism is bad, but you seem to be misinformed when it comes to Helena Bonham Carter. Her family are british aristocracy and historical politicians, only a great uncle was a filmmaker but passed away in 1968! years before Helena went into acting. From what IMDB stated Helena used her second place winnings in a poetry contest to pay for her entry into the actors' Spotlight directory, that led to her being cast in period films since her unique look was very Edwardian. From the sounds of it, her family only helped by letting Helena be independent and work at what she wanted to do.
Also not to sound like an ass but Kyra Sedgewick family are very rich and very connected in politics and considered one of more prominent American families. She's also a cousin of Edie Sedgwick the muse of Andy Warhol.
