Remember that story about her and Harvey Weinstein?

It was mostly a repeated rumor I read about in scant gossip columns and commentary on IMDB but it boiled down to Kate not getting big time roles because she rebuked Weinstein's advances in the late 90s/early 2000s thus her being relegated to action movies and straight-to-DVD-streaming. Well, it's been well past Harvey's influence in Hollywood and she's still doing those light-faire movies. For someone who looks 20 years younger than her actual age I don't see why she can't re-emerge in more critically promoted dramas and higher profile movies overall.

IMHO she's just not good....even a bad horrible movie can be elevated by an actor who is talented. yet what has she elevated? what has she done that is a standout role? id say her best film was Underworld 1, and even that is only because I liked the lore and world building and idea of the more powerful elder vampires wrecking lycans

Really? Serendipity was pretty good for a RomCom and I felt that John Cusack was the one who was miscast and I'm not really into RomComs. "Underworld" is my example of light-faire action films, same as "Van Helsing". She was also prevalent at a young age doing English period dramas in the 90s and she was just as good as Kate Winslet and better than Gwyneth Paltrow, imho.

serendipity - IMDB 6.9 - RT 59% - metacritic 52

Van helsing IMDB 6 - RT 24% - metacritic 35.

So yes really. Not saying she personally crashed those films or was particularly bad. but was she particularly good? I like Van helloing for the very same reason I like underworld, I think even if they had problems, the world building and lore was a 10/10

im not arguing she didn't make any films in the 90s, you don't seem to have a point though about her quality... yes she didn't bunch of movies and TV movies, they all range according to imdb from 5-7.3. with most being around 6.

like I said, not ad, just not that good. why id no one talking about them still? where are all these hidden gem performances by her being rediscovered?
